Vasco
participated for the 2nd time (1st time 1999) at the
traditional free mega-concert on May 1 at at Piazza
San Giovanni in Rome: the concert took about 50 minutes.
A small set of 10 songs has been played for a crowd
of 800.000 people and the
show was broadcasted live on the italian tv-station
Rai 3 for another estimated 4 million people.
Rehearsels
for this concert were started in Pievo di Cento, after
Vasco did return from LA where he did stay from january
to april. Bass guitar Tony "the Fretless Monster"
Franklin from California USA temporarily replaced
bassist Claudio "Il Gallo" Golinelli, who was recovering
from some health issues.
Franklin played bass on several songs on the last
two Vasco Rossi studio albums, 2005's "Buoni o Cattivi"
and 2008's "Il Mondo Che Vorrei".
Rossi's band also features guitarists Stef Burns (Y&T)
and Maurizio Solieri, drummer Matt Laug (SLASH'S SNAKEPIT),
Alberto "Lupo Maremmano" Rocchetti (keyboards), Andrea
"Cucchia" Innesto (trumpet, background vocals), Frank
Nemola (programming, trumpet, background vocals) and
Clara Moroni (background vocals).
